At the beginning of every year, you always hear “New year, new me!” People swarm the gyms and produce aisles of the supermarket trying to get fit and healthy for the tenth year in a row, but how long does that even last? Or you’ll hear them say, “Out with the old and in with the new!” So what does that actually mean? We’re here to help you purge the old clothes in your wardrobe and start 2018 with a fresh new look!
Welcome to Purge 101. A few questions to ask yourself to start the great clean out of 2018: Do I LOVE it? Does it fit? Have I worn it in the last 6 months? If I saw it in a store tomorrow, would I buy it? If you answer no to any of the questions, purge it!
After you have picked through your clothes asking those vital questions, what do you do with the “no” pile? That’s easy. You can sell, donate (give away), or trash it. Sell the items that are still in good condition or may have been a little more expensive. If you can’t sell it, and it isn’t damaged, donate it. Goodwill, The Salvation Army, or even your local homeless shelters are always great places to donate. If it is your underwear or has been damaged, then toss it.
Now that you’ve sorted through everything, you always want to be sure to hold on to the classic staples. For example, I always hang on to a clean cut skinny jean, one that I can count on for almost any occasion. Here are our 10 staples for 2018:
LBD (Little Black Dress)
- Black Heel
- White tee
